**Remembering William "Maui Bill" Hatch**
It is with heavy hearts that we remember William Hatch, who passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2025, at the age of 59. A true lover of Trop Rock, Bill was often seen with his ukulele in hand, crafting songs that left a lasting mark on everyone who had the pleasure of hearing them. His creativity extended beyond musicโhis way with words and infectious humor made him unforgettable.
Many knew him as "Maui Bill" from his time with *Functional Drunks*, where their hit song *Work Weekend Repeat* became an anthem. He graced the stages of *Music on the Bay (FL)* and *Pirates in the Harbour (PA)*, playing alongside a variety of artists, and was a frequent member of the *Flat Hammock Band* in New England. As a solo artist, he was working on his first solo CD, with his latest song, *Tropical Man of Mystery*, perfectly capturing his adventurous spirit.
Bill lived his life like a true Parrotheadโโlivinโ my life like a song.โ Always ready with a smile, a cold drink, and a great story, his energy was infectious. He poured his heart into volunteering for the Special Olympics through the Parrot Head Club of Eastern MA (PHCOEM), embodying the spirit of giving back.
Beyond music, Bill found peace in falconry, practicing the art for over 30 years. And though he had many passions, nothing compared to his deep love and devotion for his beloved wife, Lindaโhis greatest treasure and
#1 roadie.
Billโs personalized Christmas cards, his laughter, and his presence will be dearly missed but forever cherished. Raise a glass in his honor, play a song, and remember the joy he brought to us all.
Sail on, Maui Bill. ๐๐ด๐ถ
